Perlis

Indera Kayangan

Known as the smallest state in Malaysia by area and population! Perlis is the northernmost city in the country, neighbouring the Thai province. Due to its size, the state isn’t divided by the usual districts, but instead communes.

Masjid Al Hussain

A floating mosque designed with modern Islamic tropical culture in mind, featuring elements with a touch of nature such as coral stones, broken quartz, marble, granite and pebble stones. It’s located along the Kuala Perlis shoreline, offering visitors picturesque views of the surroundings!  It serves as a place of worship for both locals and tourists.

Festival Harumanis

The festival is organised by the Perlis Department of Agriculture and aims to promote the mango harvesting season. It celebrates the Harumanis mango variant, a Perlis icon known for being one of the most expensive mangoes due to its sweetness and fragrance. The Perlis government even registered the Harumanis name with the Intellectual Property office in 2011 to prevent inferior products from being marketed under the same name.

Snake and Reptile Farm

A prominent research centre dedicated to studying snakes and producing anti-venom by the Medical Research Institute. It is Malaysia’s main snake farm and is home to over 300 snakes of 30 different species from local and international origins. The farm also features various other reptiles, including crocodiles, monitor lizards, and iguanas, offering visitors a comprehensive glimpse into the world of reptiles.

Pengkalan Asam Trails

A recreational park that offers visitors a range of amenities like walking trails, observation huts, a suspension bridge, a reflexology site, a playground, and more. One of its most intriguing features is a canopy walk, a hanging bridge that spans across the Perlis River with ample photo opportunities.

Pesta Angin Timur

Held in March, the Perlis East Wind Festival is among the nation’s top three traditional cultural events. It marks the annual transition from cool to dry, windy conditions and coincides with the post-harvest season for paddy farmers. The festival aims to promote the rich cultural heritage of traditional Malay communities through various local cultural activities and performances.

Paddy Fields

A pleasing respite from the city’s towering skyline! Paddy fields dominate majority of the landscape, with the region’s portion of the Kedah and Perlis plains being used for rice farming since olden days.

Gua Kelam

Once a site for tin mining, where workers extracted tin in pitch-black darkness, which gave the cave its name. Today, one can explore its intriguing past and admire its beauty, with ample light illuminating the pathway.
