Abundance fills the air with golden pineapples from Southern Pineapple Town! This year, we teamed up with GOOD CHEN to launch this exclusive ‘ONG to a Bountiful Harvest’ New Year Gift Box. Each box contains a 4-in-1 red packet set, postcard, a pineapple-print fabric wrap, and a box of 8 artisanal pineapple cakes.
“旺”象征着吉祥与兴旺，而黄梨在许多方言中的谐音为“旺来”，承载着丰收与好运的寓意，成为农历新年不可或缺的应节食品。2025年农历新年，本土幻想以黄梨为主题，从柔佛州北干那那（Pekan Nanas）与新邦令金（Simpang Renggam）这两个以黄梨闻名的小镇中汲取灵感，呈现出丰收与团圆的美好画卷。北干那那作为马来西亚早期盛产黄梨的核心地，被誉为“黄梨之乡”。本土幻想希望通过这一主题，让“旺来”的祝福在节日里传播至家家户户。
You’ve probably heard it before (some months more than others). “ONG” (旺) means prosperity, and when someone says “ONG LAI” (旺来), it not only means incoming prosperity but also shares the same pronunciation as “pineapple” — a popular festive treat during Chinese New Year.
This year, we made our way down to Pekan Nanas and Simpang Renggam in Johor, small towns famous for pineapples, to draw inspiration for our 2025 artwork. Like where else could we capture the nostalgic scene of harvests and reunions? Much like the good old days! Our wish for you this year is simple: may you always have ONG LAI! 🍍✨
欢庆 Let the Festivities Begin
柔佛黄梨小镇的街道被红灯笼点缀得热闹非凡，镇上布满代表喜庆的鞭炮和黄梨装饰。舞狮队在锣鼓声中翻腾跳跃，孩子们围着观看，小手拿着刚削好的黄梨大口咬下，满足的嘴角浮现在脸上。街角的咖啡馆里，大人悠闲地喝着南洋咖啡，笑谈今年的丰收景象。新村的老屋外，邻居们互相送上“旺来”的祝福，处处洋溢着浓浓的新春喜悦。
Decked out in red lanterns, filled with exploding firecrackers and pineapple-themed decor, this small town is serious about chasing away bad luck and drawing in good fortune for all its residents. Being the leading state of pineapple production has its perks - one can easily find an abundance of these delectable fruits just about anywhere (and even have it with a hot cup of Nanyang coffee).
黄梨小镇沐浴在节庆的热闹氛围中。舞龙队蜿蜒穿行于村子主街，龙身翻舞间，吸引了骑着自行车的小情侣驻足，也穿梭在财神爷周围，孩子们高举刚收到的红包，欢呼雀跃。市集里，黄梨摊前人头攒动，大人们认真挑选着饱满的果实，空气中弥漫着酸甜的果香。“旺来旺来”的吉祥寓意萦绕耳畔，为人们带来欢笑与对新春的期盼。
It’s common to see lion and dragon dances parade along the streets during Chinese New Year. While they both usher in good luck and prosperity, they differ in symbolism. The lion symbolises strength, stability and superiority, while the dragon represents power, boldness and excellence. The troupe is often accompanied by the God of Prosperity - to bring in even more luck to one’s business (and sometimes, comic relief).
黄梨小镇以丰收的黄梨闻名，巨大的黄梨地标静静矗立，仿佛在见证丰收的喜悦。黄梨工人们在园中辛勤劳作，收割下沉甸甸的果实。金黄的黄梨装上罗里，准备运往四方，为家家户户送上年节的丰盈滋味。这每一颗象征“旺来”的黄梨，都凝聚了土地的厚重与汗水的甘甜，承载着对新一年的祝愿。
A pineapple landmark sits quietly in the heart of the town, as it watches its residents toil away - harvesting, packaging and shipping the fruit across the nation - spreading ‘ong’ in all directions. Every bite you take of Pekan Nanas’ pineapples is filled with the hard work and well wishes of its residents!
在黄梨园的田垄间，工人们挥汗如雨，将新鲜的黄梨装进背篓，准备送往市场。与此同时，远方的游子正带着孩子赶回小镇，车厢里装满了母亲喜欢的年货。黄昏时分，家门口飘出了熟悉的饭菜香，桌上摆着母亲精心准备的年菜，旁边是一盘金黄诱人的凤梨酥，象征着“旺来”的祝福。孩子咬下一口，奶香与黄梨的甜润溢满口腔。家人围坐在一起，共同举杯迎接新年。
As the residents of Pekan Nanas complete their last of their tasks for the year, relatives from near and far come pouring into the sleepy town - giving life to the festivities! You’ll almost always find a box of pineapple cakes made with love and indulgent ingredients in every home. They are meant to be tiny bites of prosperity and blessings that one can wish for their guest.
从欢庆的锣鼓声到迎春的黄梨香，从丰盈的田园景到团聚的年夜桌，每一个画面都唤起记忆中黄梨小镇的独特风貌与展现出新年的美好寓意。
